PLEASE VOTE!!!!

I was researching facts about the election and came across some staggering statistical information.  Of all the evangelical Christians in the US today, only 50% are registered to vote.  Of those "evangelical Christians" who are registered, only half of them will actually go to the ballot box.  That means that only 1 out of 4 "evangelical Christians" will actually vote!

Of all the freedoms we enjoy, the ability to vote for those in government is one of the greatest.  It is also one of our great responsibilities.  We have been given a high privilege in this nation to make our voices heard in the political process. Sadly, if these statistics are even close to corrrect, we "evangelical Christians" are neglecting this basic right and responsibility.

Do you ever wonder why you feel your voice isn't heard?  Do you wonder why Christians are ignored and even mocked in the public debate?  Do you wonder why Christians are losing the "values" issues?  Do you complain about the direction our country is heading, and wonder why God is pushed farther out of the mainstream?

Maybe, just maybe...it is because we don't vote!  Why would our representatives take our values seriously when we don't even care enough to let them know?  Why should they listen when other voices are shouting louder and voting for their issues?  Yes, politics is a messy business at times.  Our process is far from perfect, but we have to be involved. I know there are limitations to what politics can change.  I also know that our nation will be changed only through the growth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and His changing the hearts of people.  But I also know that our involvement in the political process is still important to reflect our beliefs, values, and ideals.

So I ask you, challenge you, encourage you, whatever it takes...please vote on November 4!  Study the issues...inform yourself...and by all means....VOTE!!!  You have a voice and a vote...please don't waste it...use it!

Pastor, I totally agree with everything you just stated. I feel all Christians should have very strong feelings about 1 issue if nothing else in this election. I am VERY concerned about a statement that one of the candidates said in regard to abortion. He felt that one mistake should not punish his child for a lifetime. If nothing else, this should get us all to the polls.

I too am concerned about the "deafening silence" on the abortion issue. I sadly expect it from the "left" but find it even more troubling by the silence from the Christian evangelical community. Keep praying and working to protect the unborn!
