Local Outreach

We desire to be a faith community that is recognized for having a heart like Jesus for our local community. In addition to volunteering services at these agencies, We also provide donations of requested goods. Where is God calling you to serve in Jesus’ name?

CareNet Pregnancy Center
demonstrates the love of Christ to those facing a crisis pregnancy through the provision of spiritual, physical, emotional, and educational support at no cost to the client, and by sharing the Gospel message. CareNet is committed to upholding the truth that God creates human life in His image at conception. Volunteers are needed to provide counseling, teaching, men’s mentoring, post-abortion counseling, and office help. Ongoing collection needs include maternity and baby clothing, diapers, and formula. Also needed are volunteers at their monthly “Second Saturday Workday” where the facility is cleaned, organized, painted, etc.  CareNet Website>>

Life Center for the Homeless is a shelter located near downtown Houston at 4516 Old Yale, 77018.  It provides food, clothing, drug and alcohol counseling, and most importantly, spiritual guidance. St. Timothy is actively involved with assisting its founder and director, Pastor Winston James, with many aspects of this non-profit organization, including bi-monthly Bible study visits with the residents and working on facility improvements.  Donations of food, paper products, and clothing for adults are gratefully accepted.  Pastor James can be reached at 832.292.3235 or via email>>

Lutheran Intercity Network Coalition (LINC) is a combined effort of local churches to plant, nurture, and equip groups of new believers among Houston’s culturally unique communities. St. Timothy’s involvement includes being home to Manantiales de Vida (a Spanish speaking ministry), and hosting drives for the needs of these ethnic communities – food, school supplies, and toys at Christmas.  The LINC Donation Box is the big white box in our parking lot. All donations of clothing, shoes, and household goods are used by LINC as they provide assistance to people in their ethnic churches, many of whom are in need of basic necessities. Please remember this easy way to support LINC the next time you clean out your closets. LINC website>>

Northwest Assistance Ministries (NAM) is a nondenominational agency that provides emergency assistance, counseling, shelter, and food to people in northwest Houston. Volunteers are needed in NAM’s resale shops, food pantry, driving for Meals on Wheels, and office help.  NAM website>>

International Missions

Jesus commanded His disciples to tell the world about Him starting in Jerusalem, then moving out to Judea, to Samaria, and finally to the whole world.  As believers in Christ, we have the privilege of sharing our faith with the world in a variety of ways.

Living Water International trips share the good news of Jesus by drilling water wells and teaching health and hygiene to villages in Nicaragua, sharing the good news of Jesus by word and deed.  If you are interested in joining either the drilling team or teaching health and hygiene, please call the church office.  Click here for more information on Living Water International.

Going on the trip?  Check out this page to see what you’ll need.  Our scheduled dates are June 12 – 19, 2016.

Vision for Africa is a coalition of more than 20 LCMS congregations who are striving to build strategic partnerships for the sake of the Gospel. Vision for Africa invites other congregations to join them in this effort to “use the Great Commandment to accomplish the Great Commission.” Our model is to sponsor health clinics that draw large crowds to various sites in Kenya, often one thousand people a day; each client entering the clinic receives both the Gospel message as well as the treatment for his eyes.  Vision for Africa Goal – “use the Great Commandment to accomplish the Great Commission”

Vision for Africa sends teams to churches in Kenya, and St. Timothy members are invited to participate on these teams if they so wish. Please pray for great success for the building of God’s Kingdom through their work.  If you are interested, please contact Gloria Ruppel.
