There are a lot of things I don't understand. I'm a pretty simple person. But men's restrooms have me baffled. I kind of thought the idea behind a restroom was privacy? Or maybe some sort of seclusion? I don't know, but for some reason people seem to lean more toward being modest than immodest when in a restroom.
What you see here is a very typical men's restroom. You open the door and it's - HELLO WORLD! Why even have a door? Why even put up walls? If we want to be bold, let's just line up some urinals along the hallway and save some money!
But somehow, someway, men's restroom designs just don't seem to change. There are numerous cheap options: make a dual door entry, put a slight indention in the wall, put up a 3/4 wall to block the view or just make the door open the other direction. But alas, things never seem to change.
We're funny people. There are things in our each of our lives that just don't make sense, but they don't seem to change.
Spending $100 for a pair of jeans because of a name.
Rejecting someone at school just because they like drama and you like sports.
Working 60 hours a week and neglecting your family so they can have a "better life".
And then there's tummy tucks, breast enhancements, nose jobs, pedicures for pets, etc...
For me, it's being so concerned about what other people are thinking about me. When I stop at a light, I'm always wondering: "What is that person thinking about me? Do I look ok? Do I look cool with my hand draped over the steering wheel?" Meanwhile, they're thinking: "It sure is hot today." They aren't even looking at me. They haven't even noticed me. And if they are looking my direction, they're thinking: "Wow! Exxon has Pepsi 12-Packs for $2. Score!"
I'm pretty sure God tells me not to worry about that type of stuff. I'm pretty sure much of what I spend my time thinking about really doesn't matter. I'm pretty sure when He says not to conform to the world but to be transformed by the renewing of the mind that He was talking to me. And I'm pretty sure change needs to happen. I wonder when it will.
Yep, there are a lot of things I just don't understand. And thanks God, because You must be very patient!
