Audio Devotional: Feb 6th, 2008

First of all, my apologies for not getting this devotional up on the web this morning.  I will attempt (with God's help ;)  ) to repent from doing this again, this being a day of repentance and all.

Here are some questions to think about today, questions which I was asking myself as I was recording the devotional:

How seriously do you take the commands of God?  Do you tend to live like God's grace nullifies His commands?

Do you view God's commands as limiting or confining?  Do you feel like they're just a lot of rules that God made "because I said so?"  Do you feel like they box you in?  Read Psalm 119:32 to see what the psalmist said about God's commands.

When you do try to sin less, do you tend to do it on your own steam?  Do you ask for God's help?

Are you grateful for God's commands?  Do you receive God's commands, and His help in following them with gratitude?

This makes me think of how Jesus taught us to pray in the Lord's Prayer, "Forgive us our trespasses/debts/sins..."

I know there's an acronym (or two) to use when we pray to remind us of the pieces, for lack of a better term, that we should try to include each time we pray. I'm not sure what they are, but as Jesus said, we should be sure and repent, ask for forgiveness each time we speak to Him.

Before now, I have not viewed the act of repentence as a gift. Now I can see how it fits with God's grace a little better. Thanks.
