You know that thing people try to make you do where you rub your stomach and pat your head? Or you move your hands in opposite directions? I remember doing those things back in Jr. High! Well, I had a hard time with them. It was hard to do both at the same time!
In the same way, it's hard for us to imagine that God's mercy and justice can both be realized at the same time! Sometimes we compromise one for the sake of the other. But God doesn't! He is perfect - and faithful - all the time!
