Kenya: Day Five - Friday

It is 10:10pm here in Nakuru.  We just arrived back at the hotel about an hour ago.  It was a long day, but a great day!  Lots of people, the most all week, in a shorter time than any other day.  We actually stopped seeing people about 5:30pm (normally about 6:00 or 6:15pm).  What a day - and again, it was amazing to see God at work.

First - a quick update on everyone.  Sandy was as steady as can be, and she stayed in the lens building area all week long!  She was a calm, steady rock.  Jeanine was the entry point, and greeted each person and tested their eyes at the registration table.  She was spirited and joyful.  Kindy (am I spelling that right?) tried her hand at triage starting on Wednesday, and loved it.  She rotated between pulling lenses and sharing the message of the gospel - and was a wonderful and helpful addition.  Sara also tried her hand at triage on Wednesday - and loved it!  It was so fun for me to watch as she guided people to a relationship with Jesus!  And she did it with such joy!!  Margaret continued to take turns in triage - and was a real gift and blessing to us in that area.  She also pulled lenses, but her great love was sharing the message of Jesus with the Kenyans.  Doyle stayed in triage most of the time.  He was faithful and discerning.  On occasion you would find him putting lenses together, but most of the time he was sharing the gospel with these wonderful people.  And I, PJ, moved mostly between triage and the auto-refractor.  And by the way - thanks for the prayers.  God really did a miracle with the batteries today!  Praise the Lord!!

I've got to share this.  We had lots of people receive Jesus this week, and plenty of them did it today!  But the one that stands out to me is Abijah.  Abijah was a young muslim woman that came across my table.  She was dressed in her full, traditional garb (sorry - I am blanking on the technical name).  As we talked, she said she was very interested in knowing more about this "Jesus".  All she knew, from her background, was that he was a prophet and teacher they respected.  But she found a Bible, and began secretly reading it.  After we had talked for 15-20 minutes, I simply asked her if she "believed that Jesus, the Son of God, was also truly God...that He died on the cross to take away her sins...and that by believing in Jesus Christ, she too could have forgiveness and eternal life."   She responded with "Yes, I do believe that.  And I want to have Jesus Christ in my heart."  (abbreviated version)  WOW!  Amazing.  We prayed together, and she responded with pure thanks - and the statement, "I want to know more about the truth."  She is fearful of sharing this, for she could be beaten or killed.  But she has Jesus in her heart!!  God was truly at work again today!

Ok - enough for now.  This will be the last update, as tomorrow we leave this hotel.  Keep praying - for God to move in Kenya in mighty ways.  And for God to move in the States in mighty ways as well!  To God be the glory!!

I read the whole blog today. I'm just amazed at your stories and everything all of you have done. You do have such Godly people with you. I wish at times I was younger and could go and do some of the mission work. I know when Jerry was going I alway got the impression he got more from the mission trip than the people he was helping, but oh the people brought to our Lord. I've been praying all week and I saw your dad on Sunday and told him I was praying for him and your mom and all the rest on the team. I just love Margaret, she always seems so calm and full of the love for our lord. I know you are on the way home, but I wish each and everyone a happy and peaceful trip. Sue

PJ, how exciting to hear about the Kenyans! How God worked through you, Sara and the others is truly amazing. When I read the story from earlier in the week about the women that was locked out of her home, I realized how small my problems of the week were. I will pray for safe travel! Blessings, Anita

PJ,

I have been anxiously awaiting these since I received the link froma friend at church. It is so awesome to see what God is doing through your team, and it helps me a lot to hear that my wife (Kindy) and our friends from CTK are doing well, and to hear some of the excellent stories from your journey. I can't wait to hear all the details from Kindy when she gets back!

Thanks a ton!

Aaron

I can just imagine the celebration in heaven as they watched people come to the TRUTH! My prayer is that many more people get to experience this type of faith-sharing and witnessing what happens when light conquers darkness.
