From Kenya: Similarities and Differences

Greetings everyone back in Texas.  Here's post one of what I hope will be daily updates on what God is doing in Nakuru.  Here was my amazingly huge revelation today - Kenya is just like everywhere else, and Kenyans are just like anyone else!  Ok, not completely true, but for the most part it is accurate.

Here are some of the biggest differences that really stood out -
1)  Commitment - There are over 25 people that have committed to serve along with us for the entire week.  That's half of the church.  About half of these people (5-6 of whom are between 22 and 25) walk for two hours in the morning and two more hours back home at night to serve a 10 hour day for no pay!  That is amazing!

2)  Spirit/Passion - Wow, 20 people sounds like a choir of thousands of angels in heaven!  They have a spirit and passion when they sing, serve and live!

But Kenya is a place (like anywhere else) where you fall in love with the people immediately, you recognize who needs "more" grace right away, and you see that people are people all over the world - and we all need Jesus!

Today - pray for tomorrow morning - for God to open hearts and to let the eyes of their hearts be open to Him as their eyes are opened to the things of the world!

It's all for His Glory,
PJ

Every morning at work we start our day with a devotion and prayer. We will all be praying for you and the people that you come in contact with!

PJ,

I like your blog, but you might check with Paul because in fact, some of the workers were paid last time and I didn't find out until the end. I don't know how many, but Asnath told Kristin on Facebook that she wasn't being paid this time, but was still volunteering.

Please give my regards to Asnath, Venleen, Richard, Peter, Steve the driver, Pastor Samuel, and all the rest.
