Where Can I Serve?

Jesus told us, His disciples, to make disciples of all nations. One of the most important values of this
church is our mission to the world. It begins in our own community, and spreads overseas to every nation. Church members are involved in a variety of ministries from things as simple as volunteering in the church office to overseas missions to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Children's Ministry

Children are our future.  We take Children's Ministry seriously at St. Timothy and want to provide ways to help you as parents and grandparents share the love of Jesus with the most precious of His flock.  The pastors, elders, and staff at St. Timothy are constantly looking for ways to support parents in your God given role as the primary spiritual educators of your family.  Sunday School, family events, Zone 45 (our special 4th and 5th grade youth group) are here to encourage and equip each of you and provide your children another way to learn about Jesus.

Mission Outreach

St. Timothy is thrilled to be part of the spread of God's kingdom locally and around the world. We are active in sending missionaries overseas as well as out into our own community and around the United States.  We encourage all of our people
to respond to God's call for laborers.  As you make plans for the future, begin asking God to make it clear if now might be the time for you to serve.  Go to our Missions page to learn more about when and where we will be serving.
Contact Gloria Ruppel for more information.

Music Ministry

God-honoring worship is something we strive for. Many church members are involved in our music ministry. Some play their instruments. Some are vocalists. Others are involved in the
choir.  These volunteers are an important part of the ministry of our church, using their talents and gifts to glorify God.  From Elementary and Jr. High Choirs to our talented men's ensemble, "The Gospel Lights, music plays a large part in our worship to God.  Want to sing or play?  Contact Craig Harmann

Bible Studies

From Sunday morning Adult Bible Classes to weekday classes for women, men, children and students, spending time in God's Word is the foundation needed for building our faith in God.  We offer a variety of classes and are always open to suggestions for class offerings.  If you are interested in leading a Bible study, please contact Gloria Ruppel

Student Ministry

The goal of the St. Timothy student ministry is to engage our students in meaningful relationships with each other and Jesus Christ through fellowship with each other, serving the community and studying God's Word.

Our students are involved in confirmation classes, mid-week Bible studies, local missions outreach, Sr. High mission trips around the United States and various group events.

If you would like more information on any student event contact Dan Parker.

Prayer Team

Prayer cannot be overestimated. Prayer moves the hand of God. Our Church is a body of believers dependent upon prayer, and committed to God's sovereignty. Each Sunday, a member of our Prayer Team is available to pray with you. Throughout the week, volunteers from our Prayer Team pray for our pastors, our church members, any special requests, and missionary prayer needs. The second Thursday of each month, our prayer team, Elders, and Members come together for a special Service of Prayer and Healing at 7:00 PM.  You are always welcome!

Media & Technology

Using media to spread the Gospel is a privilege of this church. In an age of widespread technology, we have a stewardship to use these tools as best as possible for kingdom purposes. We make every attempt to use media to enhance our worship services, to use technology for communication, and to better improve all areas of ministry.  All of our weekly sermons are uploaded to our website in video and audio formats.  Want to help with Tech on Sunday mornings?  Contact the Church office
and we will get you on a Tech Team!

DO SOMETHING: Our Service Commitment Statement

In 2010, St. Timothy committed to providing 25,000 “community hours” of transforming service to our community and the world.  We succeeded with
a total of 25,425 hours.  We then challenged ourselves to "Do More!"  We increased our commitment each year and are now going for another 35,000 hours given to others in Jesus' name in 2017.   Read more below and be sure to log your hours.

Community service is any act of service that has a direct impact on changing the physical and spiritual condition of the people in our community and the world for Christ.  It can take many different forms, whether it's participating in a ministry at St. Timothy, volunteering through a community organization, helping with Sunday Services, going on a mission, or simply giving your neighbor a hand.  Each act of service initiates a domino effect and becomes
a chain reaction when people "pay it forward" that will eventually result in Houston and beyond being transformed for Christ.

Doing something is about bringing people together and taking action that makes a difference – transforming lives and communities through the love
of Jesus Christ.

How Do I Meet People?

Our church is not a place for spectators. It is a place for team members. Whether you are a five-year old child, a ninety-five year old grandmother, a busy mom, or a businessman with big responsibilities, we want you to be a part of our church family.
Here is how you can learn, serve, and grow at St. Timothy:
LIFE Groups
(our small group ministry)
Often, small groups of people are better able to interact and learn about a topic than larger groups are. For that reason, our church has LIFE Groups where we attempt to group members in the same life stage or of interest together.  The size of the group is anywhere from six to twenty people. Everyone is encouraged to join a LIFE Group.  If you are not in a LIFE Group or are new and ready to join one, contact Gloria Ruppel in the church office.
Jr. and Sr. High Student Ministry
Each Sunday morning, Jr. and Sr. High students get their very own Bible study. Bible lessons are taught in such a way that every student gets to participate and learn. Wednesday night Pit Stop is a great opportunity for Jr. High students to build friendships with fun and active games followed by Bible Study/Confirmation.  Sunday night FUEL is when our Senior High Students get together for all types of fun and Bible Study.  No matter the event, life long friendships are developed while building a relationship with Christ as well.
Men's Ministry
Accountability among men is an act of integrity.  Accountability is designed to protect, encourage, and develop men of all ages.  Through Bible Study, activities, and men's events, relationships are developed that encourage men to be men of faith.  Weekly Bible Studies and Basketball games as well as annual events such as:  fishing, golf, skeet shoot, and paintball are just some of the events for the men of St. Timothy.  For more information contact the church office.
Women's Ministry
Women's groups give the ladies in our church family special times of interaction. Our women's ministry provides time for Bible Study, getting together for fun, weekend retreats, Bunco nights, Book Club, prayer, and opportunities to grow in our faith. No matter what age or stage of life, there are opportunities for you to build life long friendships.  Contact Gloria Ruppel to find out when and where a specific group meets.
Children's Ministry
Children need to develop friendships, learn about the love of Jesus and build a strong foundation for the faith thru life.  Our Zone 45 (4th and 5th grade youth group) is the first stepping stone leading to Jr. High confirmation.  Each week we offer Sunday School for children 2 years old thru 5th grade that is engaging and geared for your children to learn about Jesus in a setting designed just for them. For more information contact Caroline Gray
Young Families
Are you a family with young children?  You are at a stage of life that is often hard to schedule and oftentimes you are learning as you go when it comes to parenting. You too need time to dig into God's Word and to get together with other families to "brainstorm" how to deal with different things that only young families are going through.  We offer a monthly Young Family Potluck lunch where families in your life stage can visit while the children play, and then get home in time for naps.  To have your name added to the email list or to learn the date of the next Potluck Lunch, contact the church office.
Young Adults
Life can get complicated once you cross that threshold into adulthood.  There are complicated decisions.  Bigger stakes.  Serious relationships.  And a whole lot more.  A young couples without children group and a singles group welcome  college aged and young adults.  These groups are meeting regularly and if you would like to join them, please email the church office for more information.
Over 60's
Once you get past sixty, the fun has just begun. Whether retired, just plain tired, or active as ever, these "seasoned" groups are for you.  Our RFC (Rewired For Christ) group meets on the 3rd Wednesday of each month from 10-11:30AM for Bible Study and fellowship, and our JOY (Just Older Youth) group takes bus trips to various locations around the Houston area.  Anyone 50 and older is eligible to go on the JOY trips.  Questions? Call the church office at 281-469-2457.
Fellowship Team and BBQ Bubbas
St. Timothy seems to be "famous" for our food and fellowship.  Our Fellowship Team provides coffee and donuts every Sunday morning along with a meal on Wednesday evenings before Pit Stop, Advent, and Lent Worship.  Our BBQ Bubbas cook up some mouth watering BBQ, fried chicken and catfish, and all the fixin's for various fellowship events and special occasions.  All the while the men and ladies on these teams develop relationships and have fun.  If you would like to join the Bubbas or help out in the kitchen, please contact the church office.

Worship Volunteers

Many volunteer service opportunities are available for Sunday worship services at St. Timothy.

Altar Guild teams prepare the altar and church before worship.  Teams serve on a rotating basis.
Ushers play an important role on Sunday mornings. Men and women serve on rotating teams to guide traffic, help visitors, answer questions, provide direction, hand out bulletins, collect the offering and generally ensure that the services proceed problem free.
Hosts greet guests and provide information at the Welcome Desk.
Readers assist in worship by reading the day's Bible texts.
Tech Teams run the visual media or operate the sound board during worship services and other church events.
Children in Worship Opportunities include leading or assisting with Children's Church, the Nursery, and Children's Choirs.
